Let's just start with a "guest post." Bruce here, Kathy's husband. No surprise to those who know Kathy, the term "Queen of Cheap" has come-up more than once -- and it's often Kathy referring to herself. Recently, in the spirit of the name "Queen Latifah," I called Kathy "Queen Lacheapah." Turns-out, that domain hasn't been used... so here's a QueenLacheapah blog, and queenlacheapah.com website to follow soon.
Firstly, what is "cheap?"
stingy or unwilling to give freely
(Microsoft Encarta)
Well, that is definitely NOT Kathy! She's a regular Starbucks customer (not cheap coffee, in case you've never heard of the place), she always buys more toilet paper for the office than we ask for (Thanks, honey... when it comes to our #2, you're our #1!), and she regularly gives both time and money when appropriate. What others perceive as cheap in Kathy is really just her effort to not be wasteful -- to get the most out of a dollar -- and to put the savings in a safe place. I'm quite sure Kathy made no contribution whatsoever to the global financial crisis.
So, what will she write about here? I don't know -- I just set it up for her, and she's already thinking this is going to take too much time (did I mention I set-up her Twitter account today, too?). I hope she'll share her opinions on saving money, perhaps give us a few tips, and I'm sure we'll hear her venting about things that cost too much. Maybe she won't write anything, and I'll just repeatedly post "guest posts" with stories about my wife, QueenLacheapah.
